“FIDELITY MONTH” EXPOSED: How Utah’s GOP Governor Sold Out the Nuclear Family to the Left

Utah Governor Spencer Cox just declared June “Fidelity Month” in the Beehive State — a move that sounds like a win for traditional values but is actually a betrayal so deep it would make Brigham Young roll in his grave.

On the surface, Cox’s declaration looks patriotic. He cites polling showing Americans have abandoned faith, family, and patriotism, and calls for a “rededication” to “core values” . He even quotes John Adams about the Constitution being made for a “moral and religious people”.

But here’s what the establishment media won’t tell you: Cox declared June “LGBTQ+ Pride Month” in Utah for three straight years from 2021 to 2023 . In 2021, he asked Utahns to “support our LGBTQ+ friends and family members” . In 2022, he said supporting Pride “should not be controversial” and told LGBTQ Utahns “we love you” . He vetoed a bill banning transgender athletes from girls’ sports (the legislature overrode him), and in 2016, he gave an emotional apology for his past attitudes about gay people .

In 2024, facing a competitive primary election, Cox suddenly discovered “Pride Month” was a “lightning rod for division and hurt” and declared June a “Month of Bridge Building” instead . LGBTQ advocates — yes, those advocates — called it an attempt to “draw an equivalence between LGBTQ+ people and those who hate LGBTQ+ people” .

Then in 2025, Cox skipped the declaration entirely . And now, with another election looming, he’s landed on “Fidelity Month” — a movement cooked up by Princeton professor Robert George .

The Betrayal Is in the Details

Here’s where it gets really interesting. “Fidelity Month” doesn’t explicitly define “family” as a husband, wife, and children — unlike Tennessee and Indiana’s “Nuclear Family Month” declarations, which call the nuclear family “God’s design for familial structure” .

This is Cox’s escape hatch. He’s trying to sound like a conservative while leaving the door open to “inclusive” interpretations that include same-sex couples. He’s not defending the nuclear family — he’s diluting the message to avoid upsetting his liberal donors.

Robert George, the “Fidelity Month” creator, is a conservative scholar, but Cox didn’t adopt the strongest possible language. He adopted the vaguest possible language .

The National Context

This isn’t happening in a vacuum. Cox is part of a coordinated effort by Republican governors — including Sarah Huckabee Sanders in Arkansas, Bill Lee in Tennessee, and Mike Braun in Indiana — to “counter-program” Pride Month with conservative alternatives .

But here’s what the GOP establishment won’t tell you: they could have done this without erasing the nuclear family from the proclamation. Instead, Cox chose to hide behind “Fidelity” — a word that sounds strong but means nothing without definition.

The Real Tragedy

The Democrats in Utah called Cox’s move a “slap in the face” to the LGBTQ community . And you know what? They’re right — but for the wrong reasons. Cox isn’t betraying them. He’s betraying us.

He’s giving them a “conservative” alternative that’s so watered down it’s indistinguishable from the left’s vision of “diversity.” He’s using the language of family values to appease the establishment while giving the left a victory: a June that celebrates their values in all but name.

What You Can Do

Utah’s “Fidelity Month” declaration is a warning. The GOP establishment is selling you a watered-down version of the nuclear family while claiming they’re fighting for it. Don’t buy it.

Show up. Speak out. Tell your local leaders you want the full definition of the nuclear family — one husband, one wife, their children — not some vague, “inclusive” retreat from the culture war.

The nuclear family is the foundation of this nation. Don’t let anyone — not even a Republican governor — dilute that truth.
